Five East London councils have set out plans for tackling waste across the region - and Newham residents can take part in the consultation.
The proposals, which involve Newham, Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge and Havering councils, outline how waste can be managed sustainably until 2041.
The consultation runs until Monday 30 June.
The five councils say the East London Joint Waste Plan (ELJWP) will ensure there is enough capacity to manage waste, and that facilities are located in the right areas to reduce the impact on local communities and the natural environment.
It includes policies on how developers should consider the management of waste during demolition and construction of buildings, and when a development is occupied.
Councillor John Whitworth, Newham's cabinet member for air quality and the climate emergency, said: “As a borough committed to climate action and the environment, Newham is proud to support the East London Joint Waste Plan.
"This plan is key to reducing waste, boosting recycling, and ensuring waste is managed responsibly across East London.
"It supports Newham’s Just Transition Plan by promoting sustainable development and protecting communities from poorly located waste sites.
"By designing better ways to dispose of future waste, we’re working towards a cleaner, greener Newham.
"I urge residents to take part in the consultation - your voice will help shape a fairer, more sustainable future for everyone.”
According to the five councils, the ELJWP supports developments that work towards net-zero.
It also includes a strategy to help meet East London’s household recycling target of 35-50 per cent by 2030.
