Local elections 2026: polls open today – don’t forget to vote

The polls are open until 10.00pm on Thursday 7 May for the local elections

The polls are open until 10.00pm on Thursday 7 May for the local elections.

All registered voters aged 18 and over across the borough can cast ballots.

Voters will have to produce photo identification, such as a driving licence or passport.

You can find your polling place here.

You will be able to vote for both the Mayor of Newham and the local councillors in your ward.

The Newham mayoral candidates are listed below in alphabetical order by surname:

Terri Bloore, Local Conservatives,
Areeq Chowdhury, The Green Party
Clive Furness, Reform UK
Forhad Hussain, Labour Party
Kamran Malik, Communities United Party
Mehmood Mirza, Newham Independents Party Candidate
Bharath Swamy, Christian Peoples Alliance
Laura Claire Willoughby, Liberal Democrats
